A Planned European Expansion Will Boost Nest’s Smart Home Growth
Nest, a leading provider of Smart Home products, announced this week a retail expansion to four European countries, including Austria, Spain, Germany and Italy. Nest products are already being utilized in 190 countries, but they were only sold in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, France, Ireland, Netherlands and Belgium. The expansion could potentially increase the company’s awareness in the European Smart Home market.
The Nest Learning Thermostat Protect Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm, Nest Cam Indoor Security Camera and Nest Cam Outdoor will be available from various stores. However, the availability of these products will vary from country to country.
- Germany and Austria – The Nest Cam Indoor, Nest Cam Outdoor and Nest Protect Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm is available for preorder today from Media Markt, Conrad and Amazon. The Nest Learning Thermostat will not be available until later this year.
- Italy – The Nest Cam Indoor, Nest Cam Outdoor and Nest Learning Thermostat is available for preorder today from Media World, ePrice and Amazon.
- Spain – The Nest Cam Indoor, Nest Cam Outdoor and Nest Learning Thermostat is available for preorder today from Media Markt, El Corte Ingles and Amazon.
The shipping date for preordered products is scheduled for mid-February. According to a Nest spokesperson, Alexa’s Nest Smart Home Skill is a global integration. This basically means that wherever Amazon Tap, Echo and Echo Dot and Nest products are sold, customers will be able to control the Nest Learning Thermostat with Alexa voice services.
Nest’s parent company, Google, only sells its Google Home Smart Speaker in the United States. However, Nest does have its own platform. The voice-activated speaker is a competitor of the Amazon Echo. Google Assistant voice control software is currently available on the Pixel and Pixel LX Android phones, which are sold in Germany.
