August Adds Its First Smart Lock Mortise Kit To Its IoT Product Line
August Home, a leading provider of Smart Locks, adds yet another product to their Smart Lock lineup. The August Smart Lock Mortise Kit will convert most mortise-style locks and single-cylinder deadbolts, utilized in North America, into a Smart Lock. Mortise locks are commonly utilized in high-rise buildings and newer construction.
The kit will allow short-term rental management companies to install Smart Locks into their units, without needing to replace the existing mortise lock. The Smart Lock utilizes Bluetooth connectivity, when the tenant is at home to extend the battery life. The Wi-Fi connectivity allows the tenant to stay connected with their home, while at work, school or on vacation in an international country.
“Since launching the August Smart Lock two years ago, we’ve had significant interest from consumers, home builders and locksmiths wanting to use our Smart Lock with a mortise style lock,” said Jason Johnson, CEO of August Home Inc. “With our Smart Lock Mortise Kit, we are expanding the range of locks that work with the August Smart Home Access Solution to now include both single-cylinder deadbolts and mortise locks. Our goal is to be compatible with all door locks and deliver the benefits of August Access to everyone.”
CEO of Veritas Investments, Yat-Pang Au, said during an interview that the August Smart Lock was being Beta tested in several of their properties. Yat-Pang Au is the owner-operator of $2 billion in retail and multi-family properties in San Francisco. He went on to say that the residents appreciated the flexibility that the Smart Lock offers, especially when it comes to grocery delivery and laundry pick up services.
The August Smart Lock Mortise Kit will only be available to property developers, certified locksmiths and property managers. The lock kit is compatible with Schlage, Accurate, Yale and other leading mortise lock providers.
