Knocki: A Home Automation Kickstarter Project
New Home Automation devices are being released onto the market almost every day. Home Automation is an extremely popular market. This is mainly due to the fact that these devices give homeowners, landlords, and property management companies complete control over their home and business. With each new device that is released, it just seems like the bar is being raised higher and higher. Of course, none of this would be possible without the Home Automation Technology and gateway.
The Knocki is yet another Home Automation gateway that will allow users to convert any hard surface in their home into a control pad. The Knocki sensor can be programmed to interoperate ten different patterns of knocking. You can also pre-set gestures via the associated app on your iPhone, tablet, or iPad. For instance, say that you misplace your iPhone, which happens quite often. All you will have to do is tap twice on the table and your iPhone will begin to ring, so that you can easily find it.
Knocki is compatible with various third party home automated devices, so you can also control them in the same manner. For instance, the Knocki can also be linked with the Nest, WeMo, SmartThings, IFITT, and Philips Hue. Knocki’s sphere-shaped design is very appealing, plus it comes with a removable adhesive strip and screws, so you can install it on your wall or underneath a table.
You will be happy to know that the device is smart enough to understand deliberate and non-deliberate knocks. Users can create up to 10 unique gestures for Knocki to recognize and it will intelligently ignore the rest. The SurfaceLink Technology embedded in the Knocki does not respond to sound, just sense touch. Download the associated Knocki app on your iOS or Android device, pair with your existing Internet network, complete the setup, and begin knocking.
This device is battery operated, so no hardwiring installation is required. The AAA batteries will offer a runtime of 12 months, but it is highly recommended to only utilize mercury-free or rechargeable batteries.
If you want to preorder your Knocki, be sure to check out the official Kickstarter campaign. Delivery is estimated to be sometime in December, 2016.
