Solar Powered Smart Homes May Just Become The New Normal

Solar power delivers clean energy, eliminating harmful greenhouse gas emissions. So many countries, including the United States, Australia, Europe and Canada, are trying to become less dependent on fossil fuels. It is also just as important to reduce energy usage on all level, which is why consumer energy companies are embracing Smart-Connected devices and solar power.

The federal government is encouraging businesses and consumers to support the development of alternative energy sources, as opposed to energy driven by fossil fuels. Many energy companies are integrating Internet-Connected products in their service packages. These devices not only provide users with total control and convenience, but they also offer energy efficiency benefits.

Smart cities are popping up everywhere and homebuyers are definitely drawn to the properties located in these communities. Solar energy can now be stored in batteries in rural areas and off-grid homes, providing an affordable round the clock power source. Basically the solar panels are charging the battery to the maximum capacity. These batteries and Smart inverters could potentially play a huge role in the IoT or networking ecosystem.

Internet-connected devices are activated remotely via a remote control, which is most often in the form of a smartphone. Just imagine if your Smart appliances worked in unison with a solar panel system. Well it could, if the small appliances were installed inside of a solar/battery powered Smart Home. The user could instruct the appliances to operate during the daylight hours, solely relying on the solar and stored energy. When the battery voltage reaches the minimum level, a control circuit will automatically switch the appliances back to grid power, giving the battery enough time to recharge, at which time it will switch back to the stored energy.

The solar generation conditions would need to be favorable, in order to charge the battery or power the appliances. If you combine Smart algorithms, a technology that utilizes data points to automatically make personalized and intelligent heating and cooling decisions, with these systems there will be no end to the possibilities.
